Yanartaş
Yanartaş, also known as Chimera, is a place of historical and touristic significance located in the Çıralı resort area. Tours are organized to Yanartaş, which is situated at the foot of the mountains and offers a sea view, attracting many visitors. It is approximately 60 km away from Antalya and lies within the boundaries of the Olympos Bey Mountains National Park.
The natural gas that emerges from the cracks in the rocks ignites upon contact with oxygen and has been burning for about 2500 years.
The Story of Yanartaş
The story of Yanartaş, based on the texts of Homer, goes as follows: A three-headed monster, part lion, part goat, and part snake, known as Chimera, breathes fire. The Lycian King of the time assigns Bellophontes to kill the monster named Chimera. Bellophontes sets out to slay Chimera with his winged horse, Pegasus, and buries the creature seven layers beneath the earth. Chimera continues to send flames from underground.
How to Get to Yanartaş?
Yanartaş is located in the Çıralı resort area, which is part of the Kemer district of Antalya. After approximately a 25-30 minute uphill walk from the entrance, you will be greeted by Yanartaş.
What is the Entrance Fee for Yanartaş?
The entrance fee for Yanartaş is 50 TL, but prices are updated depending on the season. You can also join tours in your area, which cost 300 TL and include the entrance fee to Yanartaş as well as round-trip transportation. The museum card is valid at Yanartaş.
When to Visit Yanartaş?
You can visit Yanartaş at any time of the year, but we recommend visiting during sunset or in the evening. This way, you can enjoy the sunset while also watching the sky.
